Vehicle traffic on Bribie Island continues to be a hazard for turtles, our volunteers, and the hatchlings when they start to appear.  The beach becomes very busy – as you can see from the car tracks in this photo.

Additionally, a very persistent goanna has been doing its best to “crack the code” of the safety netting around some turtle nests over the past week. It hasn’t been able to tunnel deeply enough to get under the sides of the cage.

Goanna tracks surround a caged turtle's nest in white sand on Bribie Island.
A persistent goanna tried to tunnel past the protective cage but can’t get deep enough.
