Turtles are critically endangered everywhere. We are committed to raise awareness about Bribie Island’s “significant” turtle rookery.
We visit community groups and schools to share how everyone can help improve the turtles’ lot.
We participate in eco-fests and similar community festivals, and present to conferences and scientific gatherings.
For example, in recent years:
- BITTs members presented scientific papers to the 6th Australian Marine Turtle Symposium, and the Australia New Zealand Society for Ecological Economics.
- BITTs was one of the organisers of the first Moreton Bay Turtle Symposium.
- BITTs volunteers gave countless presentations to community groups and schools.
